How old?

A talking to a friend from nursery school
A ( aged 4) I am 4, how old are you?
E ( also aged 4) I am 3
A  When will you be 5?
E On my birthday.

I think A was expecting a month or date...can't fault E on his logic though!

Is there a reason?

Kids are barmy aren't they?
A while ago I started to record what nonsense is said in my house ( or sometimes overheard) on a daily basis; sometimes funny, sometimes idiotic, sometimes random, but all of it genuinely spoken.
"listen to what I am thinking" is what my Mum used to say when she spoke nonsense " Don't listen to what I am saying, listen to what I am thinking" Ah yes Mum, that explains it!

ps, C is a teenager, L and A are primary school age
